GSEC FAMILY HOLIDAY DINNER
Our Annual Family Holiday Dinner will be held on Monday, December 5th from 5:30PM - 7:00PM in the Fellowship Hall. Please return the attached reservation form by Friday, December 2nd in order to help with our planning.

CLAIRE’S GOURMET FUNDRAISER:
Items will be delivered on TUESDAY, December 13th! Orders must be picked up on the 13th. Items may be picked up between 2:00 and 6:00PM. We are also looking for volunteers to help sort and pack the orders for pick up. If you can help, please send in the volunteer slip on the back to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

CLASS HOLIDAY PARTIES
Each class will have a “Happy Birthday, Jesus” party. Teachers will send home their requests for refreshments. As with other parties, the request will not go to all parents. However, if you receive a request and are unable to provide the item, please let the teacher know in order to make other arrangements. Reminder: If you have not received a request for party refreshments, your opportunity will come later in the year.

In lieu of classroom & individual gifts each child is being asked to bring two nonperishable pantry items which will be donated to a local food bank. Each class will have a gift box for their “gifts.”

MITTEN/HAT TREE:
We will be distributing the hats, mittens, scarves, and gloves to children in our area after December 16th. Please place your donation on the tree before December 16th!! Thank you.

TO TELL THE TRUTH:
Youngsters sometimes fib because they’re worried about a parent’s reaction. If your child sees you staying calm, she’ll be more likely to be honest in the future. Say she knocks over her glass of juice at breakfast and blames her brother. You might say, “Oops. I see your juice on the table. Please clean it up.”

COPING WITH THE HOLIDAYS
This is a very busy and often hectic time for parents of young children. Children can sense the stress that we are under during the holidays and I would like to share some ideas that may help to make the holidays enjoyable for the entire family:
  1. Keep your routine the same, as much as possible. The children will be able to stay more calm (and so can you)!
  2. Simplify! Simplify! Simplify! You don’t have to do all the special events in one year! Choose the ones that will be the most meaningful and fit into the family’s schedule.
  3. Make a small list of special things you want to do during the season.
  4. Think about what the children will remember in years to come. It won’t be the 20 varieties of cookies, but the time you spent together.
  5. Try Christmas shopping on the internet. You can buy gifts in your pajamas!
  6. Take a few minutes to reflect on the joy of the season and be thankful for the blessings in your life.
REMINDERS
  • With the onset of winter, students will need coats/jackets and hats each day. All clothing that will be removed must be labeled with child’s name. Outdoor play is required, except in inclement weather.
  • A call must be made notifying Mrs. Carter of any communicable/contagious diseases such as strep throat; scarlet fever; chicken pox; ringworm; pinworms; pinkeye; fifth disease; hand, foot & mouth disease; head lice; impetigo; scabies, etc. This should be done upon confirmation by the doctor so that a fact sheet can be prepared to send home with the child’s classmates. A copy of the fact sheet is also posted on the foyer bulletin board and in each classroom at the Center. The infected child is never identified. Thanks for your cooperation in helping to keep our students and their families healthy and happy.
