Our forty-first year as a licensed Childcare
Center is in progress.
For many years, we have been expanding
and making changes to accommodate the needs
of
our students and their parents.
Our two and three day programs are great part-time experiences for children. A child whose third birthday is in the months of September, October, November and December will find these sessions most helpful in preparing for prekindergarten.
The "Just for Twos" program is an all day, everyday child care program. Children must have had their two year old birthday before enrolling. This program helps to develop each child's language, gross motor, and small motor skills. Self-discipline, cooperation, and creative expression are fostered through play activities.
Please note that we offer a five-day Pre School
class in addition to the two and three day choices.
This class also serves as a transitional class
for students whose birthdays fall within the
months
affected by Maryland’s new cut-off plan
to lower the date of entry to school from December
31 to September 1.
Full-day classes (8:30AM - 2:30PM) are offered for kindergarten. The curriculum
includes Phonics, Reading Readiness, Journals,
Manuscript Writing, Computer Activities, Mathematics,
Science, Social Studies, Art and Music. The staff/child
ratio is 1/10 and the class size never exceeds
20.
As with any learning program, the staff plays
a major role in its reputation and existence.
GSEC is very fortunate to have a staff that is
dedicated to their work with young children. The
staff is comprised of the following Early Childhood
Educators. |
