Marriage Preparation Seminar
|
Good Shepherd United Methodist Church offers to its congregation
and the community a Marriage Preparation Seminar. This weekend
program, presented by married couples of Good Shepherd, seeks to
provide engaged couples with a Christian view of the excitement, the
fun, and the sacredness of marriage. The seminar teaches couples
vital communication skills necessary for a fulfilling relationship.
Marriage related topics presented include: family or origin and how
it influences our relationships, communications, valuing your spouse,
welcoming a child, handling finances, differences between men
and women, and sexuality.
The seminar is led by various couples from within the church that share from their own experiences. The Pastor and his wife are one of the presenting couples. Positive feedback and continual updating of materials have made this program a tremendous success.
This seminar is offered twice a year ~ once in March and again in September. For registration or information, contact Rev. Steve Larsen at pastor@gsumc.com or call the church office at 301-843-6797.

Strength for Service Sunday, providing devotional book to U.S. service personnel deployed to Iraq & Afghanistan The church has been criticized as irrelevant and boring, full of hypocrites and people that are judgmental. To be honest, what these critics have to say is more right than wrong. But even so, God is still present in the world in the church. The value of the church is not based on you and I, but the one who works in us, through us, and sometimes in spite of us.

Money talk often dredges up a host of anxious responses. Many would rather talk about anything but money. But we can find security and peace comes to us as we trust in God’s care when it comes to money.

UMCOR is the global humanitarian aid organization of The United Methodist Church, working in more than 80 countries worldwide, including the United States. Their mission is to alleviate human suffering—whether caused by war, conflict or natural disaster—with open minds and hearts to all people. CARD MINISTRY
|
|
One of the ways to show love is to let our members, friends and community know we care when they are sick, struggling through a difficult time, grieving the loss of a loved one or
just not able to make it to church. Good Shepherd is doing this through a card ministry. We ask you to help us reach your family, friends, and our community (Good Shepherd
membership not required) by letting us know who might benefit from a card. Simply fill out a request card, which can be found in the lobby near the prayer book. Take one, fill it
out and drop it in the offering plate or put in Cathy Lavoie's mailbox. You may also make your request by emailing Jean Parr at
jsngpraise@yahoo.com.
